As R&D Electrical Engineer, you will join our South Europe Technology Center, an organization leading continuous research and development activities on transformers. Specifically, you will be part of the R&D Team in Zaragoza (Spain), and you will contribute to the development of projects related to the electrical performance of dry transformers and contribute to the successful roadmap execution.

Your responsibilities

  • Propose and analyze innovative ideas in the electrical design of dry-type transformers to fulfill the challenging technical requirements of transformers for new markets.
  • Define Design of Experiments for validating the proposed solutions.
  • Design and supervise the manufacturing and testing of prototypes.
  • Lead R&D project execution to ensure performance, time, and cost expectations are met.
  • Document project progress, draw conclusions, and derive design rules from validated solutions.
  • Protect validated solutions by applying appropriate IP strategies.
  • Support other R&D colleagues across Hitachi Energy R&D community by analyzing and optimizing electrical designs of various projects.
  • Provide technical support to factories, sales teams, and customers as needed.
  • Uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions and caring for colleagues and the business.

Your background

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or related field; higher formal education is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in product development and/or electrical equipment design, preferably dry-type transformers.
  • Knowledge of magnetic, electrical, and thermal design of electrical equipment.
  • Experience with electrical FEM simulation tools, preferably ANSYS Maxwell, is highly valuable.
  • Initiative, creativity, innovative thinking, and strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset, and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
