ALBA is the Spanish synchrotron light source, a large research infrastructure operating ten beamlines, complementary facilities, and an Electron Microscopy Center, in partnership with other institutions. Currently, it is constructing additional beamlines, expanding the Electron Microscopy Center, and integrating advanced data analytics, all aimed at addressing societal challenges.
Located in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain), it is funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación) and the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament de Recerca i Universitats). The synchrotron light produced by 3 GeV electrons is used by thousands of researchers across various fields, including catalytic research, health, energy, environment, communication technologies, and cultural heritage.
Our motivated staff works in a multidisciplinary environment that values diversity, inclusion, and respect. We aim to achieve gender parity within our divisions and encourage applications from women, especially for scientific, engineering, and technical roles.
Situated near Barcelona in a natural park with excellent connectivity, ALBA is in a growth phase, upgrading to ALBA II, a 4th generation facility with increased brightness and coherence. Joining our team offers opportunities for career development and exploration of new areas.
