Principal Data Engineer (Azure Synapse, Sql, Powerbi) - 100% Remote

We are seeking a candidate to work closely with one of our main clients in the financial sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

1. Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and designing optimal data-driven solutions.
2. Leading strategic prototyping workshops to clarify objectives and collaborating across Global Technology Shared Services to implement solutions.
3. Understanding different approaches for building self-service and corporate BI solutions, including data sources and ETL strategies.
4. Driving reporting efficiencies and training Power BI report designers and consumers.
5. Acting as a Power BI product evangelist, staying updated with technology trends, and contributing to the Power Platform centre of excellence.
6. Assessing adoption and customer satisfaction, working with product teams, and promoting a collaborative, creative approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications include:

• Over 10 years of experience as a Data Engineer, skilled in data analysis, modeling, and ETL processes.
• Experience with performance tuning and handling large data volumes.
• Understanding of enterprise big data architectures.
• Extensive experience in developing reporting and analytics solutions using Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, SSAS, Azure Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Power Platform, and Power BI.
• Knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, and security model design.
• Proficiency in English (C1 level) for international collaboration.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience in building reporting governance frameworks and driving adoption.
• Experience with SAFe practices.
• Experience in consuming data via APIs, Snowflake, various databases, and file formats.
• Understanding of Data Quality approaches such as shift left.
