For our client in Ghent, we are hiring a Project Manager Utilities.

Joining an ambitious and dynamic project, you will be part of the project team in Ghent as a Project Manager for some of the Utility projects. Your experience will be key in supporting the team in handling the delivery on time and within budget of this major project.

Besides the main process vessel, there are also a lot of other critical steelmaking equipment/assets necessary to produce excellent steel qualities, e.g., hot metal ladle burners, steel ladle burners, steel ladle transfer cars, off-gas treatment, hydraulic systems, etc.

Key Tasks :

  • Responsible for the project management of parts of the Utilities infrastructure (budget > 30M EUR).
  • Collaborate closely with EPCM and permitting partners, reviewing schedules for deliverables, formulating civil scopes, and enforcing D&E standardization.
  • Ensure integration and validate brownfield adaptations as applicable.
  • Conduct reviews and approvals for documents, drawings, and requests for change.
  • Enable periodic internal reviews and coordination with stakeholders to address gaps and follow-through resolution.
  • Proactively escalate any project governance issues that are creating barriers to project delivery in a timely manner and suggest solutions.
  • Drive continuous process improvements through the project lifecycle, using lessons learned and identifying opportunities.
  • Analyze improvement areas identified via maturity assessments, evaluate use cases, prioritize, and propose actions.
  • Support and report to the Steelmaking plant project delivery lead.

Profile : Technical Skills :

  • Experience working with EPCM or EPC companies.
  • Expertise in Project Management.
  • Goal-oriented, results-driven, proactive, with leadership qualities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, capable of engaging with senior executives and stakeholders, persuading them to meet deadlines.

Job Experience / Other Skills :

  • 5 to 15+ years’ experience as a Project Manager in a similar role (medior to senior profiles).

Relevant experience in process systems (mainly water & piping systems) and electro-mechanical installations is required.

Having professional certification in PMI or Prince2 is a plus.

Courses :

Master or Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent technical education.

Language Skills :

The project language is English. Knowledge of Dutch is a prerequisite.

Others :

Regular travel to Spain or other European countries (Madrid, Bilbao).
