The Corporate Strategy – Market Research Lead supports the Head of Corporate Strategy by providing rigorous, ground-up market data analysis through continuous assessment to facilitate key decision-making at the executive level.
This role significantly contributes to raising the company's standards by providing a deep understanding of ecosystem markets via the "Market Center of Excellence" (Market Lighthouse). It involves building and updating market models for key ecosystem products (e.g., Accommodation, M&E) and materials, with analysis outcomes serving as the reference point for market data across the organization, including updates on industry trends, market news, and competitive landscape (including Q-reporting reflections).
The position also supports the Strategy Planning Program by fostering collaboration between Commercial Strategy, Finance (Budget & Forecasting), and Commercial Planning & Performance functions, ensuring ownership, accountability, and milestone delivery for the Strategic Plan (e.g., 3YP).
Responsibilities:
- Develop Market Lighthouse "Centre of Excellence" reports through continuous assessment of market trends, company results, threats, and opportunities impacting the business.
- Build internal proprietary Ecosystem Market models to understand market size, growth, and key trends, including macroeconomic correlation analysis for accurate travel industry growth forecasts.
- Conduct primary research via quarterly analysis of key travel companies, external data providers (e.g., Euromonitor, PW, Bank research), internal stakeholders, and trade conferences.
- Develop competitive landscape reports to understand competitors' strategic goals, size, growth, and profitability, enabling strategic and commercial actions.
- Share weekly market highlights with Exco, Board, and investors.
Support the definition of HBX group strategy through the annual Strategic Planning Process by:
- Creating a strategic fact-base by analyzing market trends, competitors, and HBX performance to identify key issues and opportunities.
- Defining key strategic pillars and objectives in collaboration with senior management to guide initiatives.
- Establishing a Strategy Planning framework that standardizes quality and promotes cross-team collaboration, leading to a clear, quantifiable strategic plan supported by P&L drivers and resource estimates.
Skills:
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation for strategic decision-making.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Solid financial acumen, including understanding of financial principles and budgeting.
- Excellent presentation skills to synthesize complex topics into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Good judgment for timely and sound decision-making.
- Ability to build relationships with senior internal stakeholders.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in market research/analysis and insight synthesis within Strategy Consulting firms or global organizations.
Qualifications:
- Management, Engineering, or related degree.
