GL Accountant

Permanent contract / Marbella, Spain

Main Responsibilities & Tasks

  1. Manage and oversee daily operations of the core accounting department, including accounts payable, general ledger, and technical accounting, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting.
  2. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  3. Oversee the preparation of financial statements and provide insights to senior leadership.
  4. Prepare and present financial reports, analyzing data to identify risks and opportunities.
  5. Develop internal controls to safeguard assets and monitor KPIs to improve financial performance.
  6. Collaborate with legal, strategic finance, and tax departments to align with business objectives.
  7. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and managing relationships with external auditors.
  8. Provide guidance, coaching, and performance evaluation to the accounting team.
  9. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  10. Drive ad-hoc projects to add value and support decision-making.
  11. Assist with reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and onboarding acquisition accounting practices.
  12. Support system implementations and process improvements as needed.

Qualifications include extensive accounting experience, knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, strong analytical skills, leadership ability, and proficiency in financial systems and software. Fluency in English and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential.
