Senior Engineering Architect

Azure Databases SQL Customer Success Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineering Architect passionate about the Microsoft Data Platform. This role involves helping customers with transformational data projects, working alongside teams to modernize database workloads, and contributing to product development based on insights from complex engagements.

The team values diversity, collaboration, and technical excellence, with a focus on data migrations from RDBMS environments like SQL Server, Oracle, and others to Azure SQL or Azure PostgreSQL.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• Enterprise-scale data migration experience from SQL technologies, from scoping to optimization

Preferred Qualifications :

• Knowledge of cloud data technologies (AWS, GCP, IBM, Oracle) and emerging tech (Vector Databases, RAG, NoSQL)
• Technical thought leadership in customer interactions
• Ability to lead engineering discussions and own strategy improvements for Azure Data Services

Other Requirements :

• Security screening clearance, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Responsibilities

• Position as a SQL Server and Azure SQL SME through PoCs, pilots, and optimization efforts
• Mentor solution architects and assist in modernization projects
• Collaborate with product teams to improve services and suggest enhancements
• Share best practices and contribute to engineering reviews
• Advise on architecture and feasibility for workload migration to Azure
• Prioritize security in all solutions and IP development
