Overview
The Senior AI/ML Technical Lead is a hybrid role that combines advanced hands-on expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with technical leadership across project lifecycles. The role is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of high-quality, production-grade AI/ML solutions that are robust, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Working closely with business, IT, and external stakeholders, the Sr. AL/ML Lead ensures that each solution is grounded in engineering and architecture principles, delivers measurable value, and adheres to best practices in software design, data integrity, and system performance. This individual balances strategic oversight with direct technical contributions, maintaining a high bar for quality across every stage of delivery, from experimentation to operationalization.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI/ML products, including LLM-based document intelligence, federated learning platforms, and multi-agent architectures
- Balance technical leadership with hands-on execution, contributing directly to code, modeling, and system architecture
- Convert prototypes into scalable, production-grade solutions with strong focus on reliability, security, and performance
- Define delivery roadmaps for AI/ML initiatives and ensure alignment with business priorities and timelines
- Works closely with the Product Manager to identify high-impact opportunities to embed AI/ML in workflows, products, and services
- Stay on the cutting edge of emerging AI/ML technologies and incorporate them into solution design when appropriate
- Act as a technical lead for cross-functional teams, driving engineering best practices and mentoring other developers
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure architectural alignment and delivery excellence
- Manage third-party vendors and lead contractors as needed to support delivery
Networking/Key relationships
Collaborates with enterprise and solution architects, data scientists and analysts, software engineering teams, cybersecurity architects, internal SAP and IT teams, business unit leaders and contractors.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field; Master’s preferred
- 6+ years of experience in AI/ML, with strong hands-on skills in GenAI, NLP, or probabilistic modeling
- 3+ years leading AI/ML teams or initiatives in cross-functional settings
- Strong proficiency in Python and ML/DL frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers, and LangChain
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and MLOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver scalable AI products in real-world production environments
- At least two years of experience in a technical leadership or mentorship capacity
- Experience collaborating with third-party vendors and managing external teams and deliverables
