Senior Data Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Analytics Service Line (ASL) department.

The role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have experience in building scalable distributed software on the cloud, combining cognitive computing and advanced analytics with traditional data engineering and science. You should be capable of modifying open-source or other data stacks to incorporate cognitive features, with experience in handling unstructured and structured data using tools like those in the Azure marketplace, especially from the Cortana Intelligence suite. Your work will involve building new platforms and ensuring data parity between old and new data feeds.

Travel activity is low, averaging below 10%.

What you'll do

  • Partner with various market functions and entities to develop and deliver analytics services.
  • Analyze complex data sets to answer strategic and operational questions.
  • Apply methods and technologies for data architecture, integration, and governance.
  • Design and develop data models and data integration solutions.
  • Manage master data and oversee data governance strategies.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to utilize new data sources for insights.
  • Provide services related to predictive, diagnostic, and optimization analytics.
  • Work with large, complex data sets and solve non-routine analysis problems.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 7 years of experience in technical roles, including architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, HBase, Spark, etc.) and cloud platforms like Azure.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting, and data processing tools.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Economics is a plus.
  • Experience with programming in R and Python.

  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in a global, virtual team environment.
