When you join Amazon as an Area / Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your area of the business keeps pace with demand. In this hands-on role, you’ll learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. While implementing your team’s approach to drive productivity, you’ll work closely with colleagues to address challenges, making each day unique.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Analyze and implement corrective actions to maintain high quality and productivity, meeting business objectives across all shifts
  • Support and lead a team, handle administrative work, and foster a strong team culture
  • Analyze performance data and suggest process improvements to optimize work and enhance customer service
  • Collaborate with other managers to standardize shift processes

A day in the life:

You’ll work shifts at one of our operational sites, focusing on maintaining safety standards and process efficiency. Your daily tasks will include routine team management, operational tasks, escalations, process improvements, and contingency planning.

As part of the operations team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues and external partners to meet customer demands. This involves analyzing data and performance metrics and discussing technical improvements with engineers.

About the team:

The Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team is vital to Amazon’s success, managing air, sea, and road transport, as well as sortation centres. Our team uses data to drive decisions, ensuring maximum efficiency and innovation while prioritizing safety and sustainability.

  • A relevant degree and experience in people management
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Ability to use data or anecdotal evidence to influence decisions
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English and local language

Preferred qualifications include experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, logistics environments, and MS Office tools. These are not required but are advantageous.
