About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, as the Director of Engineering, you will lead all engineering activities, focusing on providing a balanced service to meet the needs of the property, guests, and colleagues. You will actively participate in daily operations, leading, mentoring, training, and educating the engineering team. You will be responsible for the financial management of the engineering department, including expenses and utilities.

During pre-opening, you will drive critical technical service activities, including recruitment, process structuring, and ensuring compliance with Mandarin Oriental standards.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Maintaining the safety and proper condition of all buildings, equipment, and areas.
  • Implementing 'Safe and Sound' procedures in compliance with group standards.
  • Ensuring all work complies with statutory requirements and regulations.
  • Overseeing the engineering management team and outsourced services.
  • Contributing to strategic planning, community involvement, maintenance programs, and budget management.
  • Supporting project management, energy conservation, and technical documentation updates.
  • Collaborating with other departments on training, safety, and technical support.
  • Conducting inspections, ensuring standards, and maintaining certifications and reports.
  • Providing technical advice, budget forecasts, and supporting energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Maintaining relationships with local authorities and ensuring compliance with all requirements.

We expect from you :

Experience and education

  • Minimum five years in engineering management, preferably in luxury hospitality.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy).
  • Pre-opening and resort experience is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in office applications and key building systems management.
  • Experience in maintenance management, project coordination, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills in English and Spanish.
