Role Overview

As a Medical Information Specialist based in Barcelona supporting North America, you will manage unsolicited medical inquiries from eye care professionals and consumers regarding Alcon device products. Your daily responsibilities include:

1. Providing accurate, timely responses to medical and scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals, patients, and internal stakeholders.
2. Using approved resources and databases to ensure information is current and compliant with regulatory standards.
3. Creating and updating reference documents, FAQs, and other medical information materials, ensuring review and approval per company policies and regulations.
4. Collaborating with R&D, regulatory affairs, and marketing teams to provide medical insights and support product development.
5. Supporting medical information activities at professional congresses as needed.
6. Identifying and reporting adverse events and product complaints according to regulatory requirements and company policies.
7. Working with pharmacovigilance and quality assurance teams for proper documentation and follow-up.
8. Staying informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in medical information.
9. Maintaining a working knowledge of Alcon products within assigned therapeutic areas.

Qualifications

• Medical/clinical experience (MD, OD, PharmD, RN, ophthalmic surgical nurse, licensed optician, pharmaceutical experience preferred; prior experience in medical information in pharma or medical devices is a plus).
• Bachelor’s degree in science, pharmaceutical sciences, or equivalent education/experience.
• Multilingual: Fluent in English and French; Spanish is a plus.
• 2-4 years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry with customer interaction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical response writing; proficiency in PC skills and MS Office.
• Working hours: 3 PM to Midnight; based in Barcelona.
