About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, you will assist with daily accounting tasks, financial reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards and regulations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in finance operations within a dynamic multinational insurance company environment. The position is based in Madrid, Spain, with a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office / 2 days remote).

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  1. Support all day-to-day finance operational activities, including:
  • AP & expense accounting
  • Intercompany invoicing process and invoices
  • Vendor management
  • Concur (T&E) management for travel and entertainment expenses
  • Fixed Assets & Leases analysis
  • Payroll
  • Balance sheet reconciliations

General Accounting: Assist with the preparation, posting, and reconciliation of journal entries related to insurance programs, ensuring timely and accurate financial data.

Intercompany Reconciliation: Collaborate with global offices to perform intercompany reconciliations and ensure accurate cross-border financial reporting.

Financial Reporting: Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles, preparing data for internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to systems implementation, including impact assessment, process definition, and UAT.

Develop and maintain end-to-end process documentation to support financial control.

Support internal and external audit teams on operational finance matters.

Ensure optimal processes for payments, disbursement controls, and large receipts or disbursements, in coordination with international treasury.

Coordinate with the international tax team on expense allocations, intercompany billing, and settlements.

Support the Finance Operations Manager on various projects as needed.

Assist with initiatives related to growth plans, including launching new products and integrating new systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5-7 years of finance experience in an audit firm (Big Four) or multinational company's accounting department
  • Knowledge of USGAAP
  • Advanced mastery of Oracle ERP and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, with the ability to see the bigger picture and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Team player, proactive, highly organized, and able to prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of IFRS and USGAAP standards
  • Familiarity with insurance-related accounting practices is a plus

Additional Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and data analysis skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive problem-solving approach
