Responsible for: Principally monitors but also at times oversees all age group staff.

The activity coordinator is responsible for all aspects related to the "activity side," managing the daily programme from waking up to meal times, sports, showers, and evening entertainments. The Activity Coordinator is a mid-management position, serving as the principal manager for all monitors (camp counsellors) and supporting the management of other camp staff.

Activity Coordinators at TECS Summer Camps are typically the heart of the camp, bringing energy, fun, songs, and excitement. They should be young or young at heart, imaginative, energetic, and capable of handling the demands of camp work, while maintaining a mature and responsible outlook.

Requirements: What we’re looking for — Requirements + Knowledge / Skills

GENERAL

  • All camp staff must be EU citizens or hold valid work permits (N.I.E. or T.I.E.).
  • A university degree or relevant qualifications in childcare are preferred. TEFL or sporting qualifications are advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous summer camp experience, preferably in a management role.
  • Relevant experience in team management.
  • Experience organizing activities for large groups of children, especially foreign language learners.
  • Experience working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate staff fairly and effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including persuasion, negotiation, and advocacy.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a high-pressure setting.
  • High energy levels, with a youthful yet responsible outlook.
  • Knowledge of Spanish language and culture is preferred but not essential; communication with campers is in English.

Job Review and Performance Management

Regular feedback will be provided by the Camp Site Director regarding performance and objectives. The Director is available anytime to discuss concerns or issues.
