Software Engineer

At Longtail, we are building an intelligent, autonomous decision streaming platform for airlines. We create workflows by overlaying scalable automation with proprietary algorithms and rich data, streaming decisions directly to airline systems. Our platform enables airlines to offer extensive travel options across thousands of routes worldwide.

The Position

We are seeking engineers to build and maintain scalable, reliable decision systems for airline commercial problems. These systems involve multiple components orchestrated together, with evolving algorithms processing large data volumes to make millions of decisions that are streamed directly into airline systems. We value customer-first mindsets and collaboration with business teams, data vendors, and customers.

In this role, you'll

• Write clean, secure, tested, and well-documented code.
• Participate actively in system design and review processes.
• Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects.
• Mentor team members and share knowledge to develop the team.
• Shape the team's roadmap based on customer feedback.
• Create technical documentation and help define internal processes.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of experience with highly scalable distributed systems.
• Comfortable in unstructured, ambiguous environments.
• Data-driven with strong decision-making skills.
• Motivated by building systems that enhance productivity.
• Curious about customer needs and driven to understand them.
• Collaborative, thoughtful, and solution-oriented.
• Designs systems with simplicity and approachability in mind.
• Prioritizes quality and reliability.
