Shift Supervisor – Operations

APM Terminals is a global leader in port and terminal operations, committed to delivering world-class services and driving innovation in logistics. At our Valencia terminal, we are looking for a dynamic and experiencedShift Supervisorto lead operational excellence during assigned shifts.

Purpose of the Role

As a Shift Supervisor, you will manage all terminal operations during your shift, ensuring optimal resource use, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will be the key point of contact for operational updates and coordination across teams, ensuring seamless vessel turnaround and yard performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate operational teams to meet productivity and safety targets.
  • Coordinate terminal operations to ensure timely vessel and train handling.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Act as the first responder in emergency situations and conduct incident investigations.
  • Liaise with planning, maintenance, and external stakeholders (e.g., shipping lines, port authorities).
  • Monitor equipment usage and personnel allocation for maximum efficiency.
  • Support on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education/Experience:
    • Degree in Logistics, International Trade, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 2 years in a similar role; 5+ years in container terminal operations preferred.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
    • Familiarity with IMO regulations, hazardous cargo handling, and terminal safety practices.
    • Proficiency in terminal operating systems and planning tools.
    • B2 level English and fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • Competencies:
    • Problem-solving, adaptability, accountability, and organizational awareness.
    • Ability to empower teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
