Principal Data Engineer (Azure Synapse, Sql, Powerbi) - 100% Remote

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a professional to work closely with one of our main clients in the financial sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

1. Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and designing solutions that promote a data-driven culture.
2. Leading strategic prototyping workshops and collaborating across Global Technology Shared Services to implement solutions.
3. Understanding approaches for building self-service and corporate BI solutions, including data sources and ETL processes.
4. Driving reporting efficiencies, creating training for Power BI report designers and consumers, and sharing best practices.
5. Acting as a Power BI evangelist, staying updated on technology trends, and contributing to the Power Platform centre of excellence.
6. Assessing adoption and satisfaction, working with product teams, and promoting collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications and skills required:

• Over 10 years of experience as a Data Engineer, skilled in data analysis, modeling, and ETL processes.
• Experience with performance tuning and handling large data volumes.
• Knowledge of enterprise big data architectures, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, SSAS, Data Lakes, Data Factory, and Power Platform solutions.
• Understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, and security models.
• Proficiency in English (C1 level) for working with international teams.

Nice to have:

• Experience in reporting governance and organizational adoption.
• Knowledge of SAFe practices, APIs, Snowflake, and data quality approaches.
