Maintenance Worker

Supervise daily operation of the laundry facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage the operation of the laundry, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met.
  • Accountable to the Executive Housekeeper for daily laundry operations.
  • Apply technical knowledge to assess methods, procedures, and equipment, and exercise good judgment in corrective actions.
  • Perform washing, ironing, dry cleaning, and storage of laundry items.
  • Ensure all equipment is operational, coordinating repairs with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Coordinate with divisions for proper linen sorting, ensuring cleanliness and correct categorization.
  • Inspect finished laundry for quality and enforce quality controls at each stage.
  • Maintain dryers and other equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Conduct daily inspections to optimize equipment performance and water temperature.
  • Report inspection findings to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
  • Coordinate cleaning of uniforms and laundry between relevant staff.
  • Handle problem resolutions related to laundry in consultation with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Oversee sorting, washing procedures, and timely distribution of linens and laundered items across departments.
  • Coordinate laundry schedules with the Cruise Division for costumes and special items.
  • Set machine formulas and cycles based on linen types and soil levels, collaborating with service representatives for calibration and maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Manage maintenance and repairs of laundry machinery, reporting malfunctions promptly.
  • Complete requisitions for chemicals and stay within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure timely return of Top Suite items to guests, maintaining quality standards.
  • Perform quality control checks on linens, towels, and robes.
  • Review weekly laundry sales and revenue with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Monitor financial budgets to meet operational targets.
  • Handle guest concerns to ensure maximum satisfaction.
  • Adhere to environmental policies regarding waste disposal and chemical use.
  • Follow all SQM policies and participate in emergency drills as required.

Hiring Qualifications :

Hiring Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of related experience or training in laundry operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Requirements: Ability to read and interpret English safety, operating, and maintenance documents.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell. Must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
