Java Backend Engineer

At ING, we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Backend Engineer to join our team.

Your role and work environment :

As a Software Backend Engineer, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, and supporting the backend components of our applications, ensuring functionality, quality, and performance. You will deliver working software to production, support bug fixes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve technical practices.

Your major responsibility areas :

• Coding
• Environments management
• Release
• Monitoring

What are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will have :

• Strong coding skills in Java 8 / 11 / 17
• Knowledge of Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and Clean Code practices
• Understanding of Back End & DevOps concepts
• Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Wiremock
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and related tools
• Experience with Agile methodologies
• Retail banking knowledge and security expertise (JWT, Mutual TLS, Access tokens)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
