Overview

The position is responsible for developing and providing production schedules for a specific product line, using order entry inputs as demand triggers in a Make-to-Order (MTO) manufacturing environment. The role oversees the overall supply plan and demand forecasting strategies to meet customer and business expectations. It also involves coordinating, monitoring, and controlling transactional processes and Work-In-Progress (WIP) inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain demand forecasts for the assigned product line, capturing backlog information, analyzing historic sales statistics, and incorporating market campaigns or business opportunities such as New Product Development (NPD) and Change Orders (CODs).
  • Confirm customer orders according to published Lead Time (LT) and requested delivery dates. Provide timely alerts and drive resolutions for On-Time, To-Request (OTTR) missed orders, and track performance. Collaborate with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team on customer orders, resolutions, configurations, schedules, and feedback.
  • Analyze current backlog demand and trends to recommend appropriate supply and production rates that satisfy business and customer needs. Alert manufacturing operations promptly about demand uptrends or downtrends and capacity constraints for order fulfillment.
  • Create a well-balanced production sequence schedule with at least a 2-day Cut-To-Book (CTB) window. Monitor daily production performance, gather feedback from internal teams for constraint resolution, and ensure proper documentation is released to production. Ensure Manufacturing Orders (MO) are created for manufacturing processing and reporting.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and control the transactional process and WIP inventory, ensuring timely and accurate recording and processing of inventory transactions.
  • Lead and coordinate with engineering, marketing, and procurement teams on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives, changes, and improvements for product enhancement, NPD, and CODs. Track PR resolutions and Change Notice (CN) implementations.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in production planning and scheduling within a metal-mechanic manufacturing assembly process.
  • Supervisory experience managing teams of 5 to 10 or more, with effective communication skills to instruct and persuade both direct and extended team members.
  • High understanding of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), inventory control, capacity planning, sequencing, Just-In-Time (JIT), and KANBAN systems. Ability to interpret blueprints and understand Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, along with inventory transaction analysis. APICS or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel for processing large data sets to analyze and synthesize production and inventory information. Excellent analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
