Principal Data Engineer (Azure Synapse, Sql, Powerbi) - 100% Remote

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to work closely with one of our main clients in the financial sector.

Responsibilities include:

1. Collaborating with stakeholders within business and technology to understand needs and design optimal data solutions, fostering a data-driven culture.
2. Leading strategic prototyping workshops for quick feedback and collaborating across Global Technology Shared Services to productionize solutions.
3. Understanding approaches for building self-service BI versus Corporate BI solutions, including data sources and ETL methods.
4. Driving reporting efficiencies by standardizing practices, sharing knowledge, and training Power BI report designers and consumers.
5. Acting as a Power BI product evangelist, staying updated with technology trends, and understanding use cases and alternatives.
6. Contributing to the Power Platform centre of excellence, establishing governance, and assessing adoption and satisfaction.

Required skills and experience:

• 10+ years as a Data Engineer.
• Expertise in SQL, performance tuning, and handling large data volumes.
• Understanding of enterprise big data architectures including Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, SSAS.
• Knowledge of Azure platform components like Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with the full Software Development Lifecycle, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio (SSDT), for CI/CD.
• Understanding of security models within data estates.
• Proficiency in English (C1 level) for international collaboration.
• Experience with data interfaces such as APIs, Snowflake, databases, and various file formats.
• Knowledge of Data Quality approaches such as shift left.
