Job Description

NielsenIQ’s Innovation Team is expanding its AI capabilities and is now hiring an AI/ML Data Scientist for the Core Models team, a multidisciplinary team working on AI areas such as recommender systems, extreme classifiers, Large Language Models (LLMs), among others. In this role, you will stay current with AI research (focusing on NLP, but also on Computer Vision and other fields), implement state-of-the-art algorithms in real-world, large-scale problems, and propose novel ideas.

Your main responsibilities include creating high-quality datasets for training and fine-tuning Custom Models, LLMs, and Recommender Systems, and training these models to analyze the impact of data variations on performance. You will design and implement scalable data pipelines supporting all R&D stages, including fine-tuning and reinforcement learning alignment, ensuring robustness, safety, and alignment of AI models. You will also have opportunities to produce scientific content such as patents or conference/journal papers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply data pipelines with minimal supervision, ensuring simplicity, scalability, reproducibility, and maintainability.
  • Train Deep Learning (Transformer) models and analyze data version impacts.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and data analysis to identify optimal solutions.
  • Drive innovation and contribute to custom Large Language Models development.
  • Communicate results effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate as part of a team, fostering motivation and effective relations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science or related numerate discipline.
  • Minimum of years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong background in computer science, linear algebra, probability.
  • Extensive experience in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, especially Transformers.
  • Proven experience with NLP and Large Language Models.
  • Experience building scalable data pipelines and ETLs.
  • Ability to understand scientific papers and develop executable ideas.
  • Track record of innovation, patents, or publications in AI.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, Databricks, Pandas/Polars, PyArrow, PyTorch, Huggingface, git.
  • Proactive, curious, persistent attitude.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
  • Interest in working within a diverse, international team and inclusive culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in NLP, Data Science, or related fields, with specialized coursework.
  • Experience with large real-world datasets and scalable ML solutions.
  • Experience in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or Consumer Insights.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (SCRUM, SAFe).
