We are currently seeking a Director of Commercial Lending who lead and manage commercial lending activity for the organization.
Establishes and manages lending objectives, targets, strategies, and practices to achieve organizational growth,
quality and service goals within the Commercial Lending Department.

Location: 1509 Baltimore Drive, Ames, IA 50010 - Hybrid work availability

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and Manages the Business Loan Portfolios by identifying, analyzing and pursuing new business opportunities; promoting the credit unions products and services and ensuring quality service. Seeks out new business opportunities and develops strategies to expand existing business. Manages the maintenance and servicing of existing commercial loan portfolio by analyzing data and making recommendations.
  • Works alongside the Chief Lending Officer to provide the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Commercial lending department to include participating in the hiring process; mentoring, training, and developing staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing
    concerns and resolving problems; and conducting performance appraisals. Uses lending authority as needed to underwrite loans
  • Ensures compliance and a clear understanding of compliance regulations, company policy and procedure requirements associated with commercial lending. Prepares for examinations, internal and external audits, and addresses findings with priority and action.
  • Ensures Commercial Lending goals align with the credit union strategic plan and budget. Oversees development of commercial products and services and ensures these are available and relevant to small business and commercial entities.
  • Represents the credit union at community activities and participates in networking events to cultivate relationships for the credit union.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). Or equivalent experience.

Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
