Mission

As a clinical veterinarian in our animal welfare service and facilities, your role will be to ensure the appropriate care and welfare of animals at Zoetis Olot in compliance with current regulatory requirements and AAALAC International standards, as well as coordinate and guarantee compliance with the animal health program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the proper care and welfare of laboratory animals at the facility.
  • Participate in rotating weekend and holiday on-call veterinary shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with AAALAC program requirements.
  • Provide daily support and continuous professional development to the animal technician team.
  • Support research teams in clinical studies as needed.
  • Ensure adequate resources and support are provided for experimental animal studies related to R&D projects, batch release, and stability programs.
  • Ensure studies assigned to the Animal Welfare Service are conducted in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Operate in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable project regulations.
  • Understand the processes and operations involved in order to suggest improvements for resource optimization.
  • Participate in audits and inspections related to the Animal Welfare Service.
  • Participate in or coordinate the proper functioning and maintenance of animal facilities and related equipment.
  • Contribute to the definition and strict adherence to biosecurity protocols for each facility and procedure.
  • Report and investigate any suspected or confirmed Animal Welfare incidents within the animal facilities.
  • Collaborate with or serve on the Animal Ethics Committee when required.
  • Perform all operations in a safe and continuously improving environment.
Requirements Education & Certification
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
  • Certification to perform functions b, c, d, and e under Order ECC/566/2015.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
  • Understanding of biosecurity principles.
  • Familiarity with general procedures and the use and welfare of laboratory animals.
  • Knowledge of chemical and biological hazard risks.
  • Proficient computer skills.
