JOB FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Financial Assistant Manager, the Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services and purchasing for all SGE properties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review purchasing requests, contact vendors, and purchase goods based on agreed upon price, quantity and quality, ensuring timely procurement of goods at price/value to meet the needs of each department.
2. Communicate and coordinate with assigned departments to understand needs, and anticipate and resolve issues,ensuring satisfaction and that purchasing services meet the needs of the company.
3. Review bids for assigned purchases to ensure securing the most advantageous deal in relation to price, quantity,quality, service level, and delivery schedule.
4. Research and communicate with existing and potential vendors to cultivate working relationships and develop mostadvantageous price and service agreements.
5. Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
6. Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to theappropriate levels of management.
7. Responsible for inventory and tagging, and disposal of assets according to policy.
8. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED. One (1) or more years of purchasing experience or equivalent required. Must possess strong negotiation skills. Must possess excellent math skills. Must possess excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills. Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
