Position

Reports to : Assistant Director of Nursing

Education and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate of a recognized program in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD)
  • Registered Nurse with a CSSD diploma or recognized program
  • Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree in CSSD or a related field preferred
  • Valid registration / license as a Nurse, CSSD, or any allied health profession
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager of a nursing unit or CSSD in a large acute care hospital
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing supplies / equipment at a management level.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage and oversee all activities within the CSSD, including the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that all sterilization processes are carried out effectively and efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality control.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to CSSD staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and adequate supply of sterile instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of sterile supplies and timely ordering of materials.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of the CSSD to ensure adherence to protocols and standards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the CSSD.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and functioning of all CSSD equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as necessary.
  • Provide education and training to staff on best practices, new techniques, and safety protocols related to sterilization and infection control.
