As the Supplier Quality Engineer Contracted Services based in Madrid (ES), you will coach and manage Contracted Services Suppliers according to Hitachi Energy's supplier quality standards and policies. Your responsibilities include qualifying suppliers for business with Hitachi Energy, providing advice and training on quality protocols, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy requirements and applicable government standards. You will also manage supplier issues related to quality performance and service levels.

How you will make an impact

  1. Supplier Qualification: Support category teams and local SCM teams in the supplier qualification process by evaluating suppliers, reviewing qualification assessment forms, performing onsite visits and audits, and recommending the appropriate qualification level.
  2. Ensure qualification and compliance: Maintain the supply base as fully qualified and compliant through regular monitoring.
  3. Supplier Audit: Plan and conduct remote and onsite supplier audits, report findings, and verify the effective closure of audit findings by suppliers.
  4. Supplier Nonconformances: Coordinate, monitor, and report high-impact supplier nonconformances, drive resolution, identify root causes, and ensure implementation of appropriate process controls to prevent recurrence.

This role requires effective communication with suppliers, customers, and internal groups, including negotiation and influencing skills.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-oriented discipline; a degree in construction/civil engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in civil works and/or installation; site supervision or audit experience is a plus.
  • Experience in supplier quality management.
  • Recent experience in supplier development is advantageous.
  • Experience with Process Improvement and Continuous Improvement practices (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, RCA).
  • Proficiency in managing 8D methodologies.
  • Strong auditing skills; Lead Auditor certification is a plus.
  • Expected minimum of 25% travel.
