Backend Software Engineer

StubHub International (SHI) is a marketplace that provides fans a safe, transparent, and

trusted environment to buy and sell tickets for sport and music events all over the world. It

allows fans with tickets they can no longer use to recoup part of the money they’ve spent

and fans that didn’t have the chance to buy tickets during the on-sale, to access them at

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a strong Backend focus and Java / OOP skills to join our team. The role involves developing platform-related services and integrations with a focus on extensibility, throughput, and scalability. Responsibilities include writing test-covered code, participating in peer code reviews, ensuring smooth CI / CD deployment, and following Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design technical solutions and write technical documentation
• Develop platform related services and integrations to evolve our platform taking into account extensibility, throughput and scalability.
• Investigate and fix bugs / issues in a complex distributed system
• Evolve and build micro services (Java) with performance and scalability in mind
• Provide meaningful code reviews
• Be the owner of your code and responsible for pushing it to production.
• Follow Agile values and principles. We break product development work into small increments so we can add value sooner.
• Be data driven. We use metrics to guide our development and validate new functionalities.
• Work with CI / CD pipelines. We don’t like wasting time with manual, error-prone deployment work.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience with OOP and message broker architecture (extra kudos for Java).
• Experience working with cloud-native environments (extra kudos for GCP and Kubernetes).
• Experience building REST APIs for HA / scalable systems.
• Experience with performance tuning and analysis tools.
• Academic background in Computer Science or STEM fields is OK but not exclusive.
• You are proactive. You create or control a situation rather than just responding to it after it has happened.
• You write clean and maintainable code.
• You feel comfortable working with Git (or any other distributed version control system) .
• You have solid verbal and written English communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Willing to improve and learn every day.
• Prefer proven experience developing transactional, high-volume eCommerce, hosted web applications.
