Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations for the Spain entity, including transaction posting, month-end closing, reporting, and coordinating annual audits.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with Austrian Law on Accounting and Spain GAAP.
- Serve as the sole accountant for the Spain entity, acting as the primary contact for all accounting and tax matters.
- Communicate with local accounting and tax advisors.
- Oversee payroll processes, including salary calculations, tax and social contribution deductions, and employee support.
- Manage month-end and year-end closures, prepare financial statements according to Spain GAAP, and submit the Annual Financial Statements to the SRC.
- Prepare and submit tax filings such as VAT, corporate income tax, personal income tax, and social contributions.
- Ensure compliance with local tax and financial reporting obligations, maintaining documentation for audits or inspections.
- Coordinate with tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with Spain laws.
- Monitor legislative changes in Spain related to tax, labor, and accounting, implementing updates as necessary.
Requirements
- Over 4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a Spanish company.
- Proven payroll and employee tax calculation experience in Spain.
- Strong knowledge of Spain GAAP, local tax laws, and statutory reporting.
- Experience with filings to Spanish regulatory bodies including VAT, profit tax, PIT, and social fund declarations.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
- Autonomous, transparent, proactive, and action-oriented with a strong ownership mindset.
