Job Description - Quant Analyst - LNG & Natural Gas

Experience: 2-7 years

Department: Optimization & Trading

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly analytical and ambitious Quant to join our growing Optimization team, supporting global LNG and natural gas trading and origination. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis, deal structuring, and portfolio modelling, who aspires to transition into a trader-originator role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support trading, origination, and business development teams with robust pricing models, fundamental analysis, and strategic insights.
  • Develop and maintain shipping and logistics models that underpin physical trading operations.
  • Collaborate closely with traders to analyse market data, monitor developments, and identify trading opportunities.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to assist in optimizing trading strategies.
  • Build and enhance knowledge systems that support decision-making across the trading desk.
  • Identify and develop new markets to increase portfolio optionality, capability, and revenue streams.

Candidate Profile:

  • 2-7 years of relevant experience in quantitative analytics, trading support, or physical/financial commodities (e.g., LNG, gas, crude, power, emissions).
  • Strong academic background in quantitative fields such as statistics, econometrics, financial engineering, or applied mathematics.
  • Hands-on experience with commodities infrastructure models—including shipping, storage, pipeline, upstream, or supply chain analytics.
  • Proficient in Python, R, VBA, or similar tools for data modelling and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of energy markets and trading dynamics; LNG/gas exposure is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; additional fluency in Arabic, Turkish, or other languages (Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Italian, French) is a strong advantage.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and collaborative—with a clear desire to transition into a front-office trading/origination career.

Why Join BGN?

At BGN, you’ll be part of an agile, entrepreneurial team where innovative thinking and performance are rewarded. We offer the opportunity to work alongside seasoned traders and business leaders, contribute to real-time decision-making, and take ownership of initiatives that drive growth in global energy markets.
