Project Officer

Position overview

CTI is seeking a motivated and well-organised Project Officer to support the planning, implementation and follow-up of CTI's activities, including country engagement, capacity-building events, and communications. This is an entry to mid-level professional role ideal for someone with a background in human rights, international relations, law, or political science, who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and diplomatic environment.

The Project Officer will work closely with team members to help ensure the smooth running of CTI's projects and activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the preparation, delivery and follow-up of CTI activities and events, such as workshops, briefings, study visits, and bilateral meetings;
2. Conduct research and background analysis on legal, policy and political matters relevant to UNCAT ratification and implementation;
3. Draft written materials including background notes, reports, speaking points, and correspondence;
4. Support CTI's outreach and engagement with States and partners;
5. Contribute to communications, including CTI's website content, newsletters and social media;
6. Provide logistical and administrative support, including travel planning, budget tracking, and record-keeping;
7. Coordinate with consultants, external partners and service providers as needed;
8. Support internal planning processes and Secretariat functions as part of a small, collaborative team;

1. University degree in law, human rights, international relations, political science or a related field;
2. 2-4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in international organisations, government, NGOs or similar environments;
3. Good understanding of the UN system, international human rights, and rule of law issues;
4. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks independently;
5. Excellent writing, research and communication skills in English;
6. Fluency in English is essential; working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
