Your Tasks Baker Hicks is one of the leading consultancies in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK and is expanding its power team in the DACH region. We are seeking an ambitious Substation / Primary Layout Engineer to support this growth.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan transmission-level onshore substations at voltages from 110kV to 400kV.
• Produce substation primary layouts, specifications, and calculations including equipment ratings, short circuit forces, earthing, voltage, fault analysis, wiring diagrams, and protection systems.
• Collaborate closely with design teams in the UK to ensure compliance with local standards and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing or managing HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
• Full professional proficiency in German and good command of English.
• Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.

Additional Information

• Occasional travel to Basel and London.
• Work locations mainly at customer sites with some remote work possible.
• Project durations typically between 6 and 24 months.
