Your mission

As Additive Manufacturing Engineer: Thermoplastics at SAEKI, you are the bridge between customer design intent and machine executabletoolpaths. You fill the critical gap between incoming CAD data and 3D printable geometries — owning the workflow from geometry preparation to slicing and robot-ready toolpaths.

You’ll define slicing strategies, optimize printability, and collaborate across departments to ensure every part we produce is manufacturable, efficient, and high quality. You’ll be deeply embedded in the technical core of the company, supporting product excellence and innovation.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Geometry & Print Feasibility:

  • Review and adapt incoming CAD models for 3D printability
  • Make informed decisions on geometric changes with internal and external teams
  • Ensure files are clean, structured, and ready for slicing

Slicing & Toolpath Generation:

  • Generate optimized toolpaths for robotic additive manufacturing
  • Establish and document slicing methodologies for recurring shapes
  • Own advanced slicing strategies and software selection
  • Continuously improve toolpath quality and reduce scrap rate
  • Be our link to slicing software providers

Workflow Management & Internal Collaboration:

  • Oversee and improve the CAD → 3DP workflow
  • Work closely with CNC specialists to align hybrid workflows
  • Support team members in using slicing workflows
  • Ensure robust, scalable slicing procedures across the org

Innovation & Non-Dilutive Funding Support:

  • Provide technical input for grant applications (e.g. Innosuisse)
  • Contribute slicing-related insights to internal R&D initiatives

Quality & Delivery:

  • Guarantee that customers receive best-in-class printed parts
  • Troubleshoot toolpath or printability issues before production
  • Drive print success rate through better geometry preparation

Your profile

  • Experience with slicing software (e.g. Ai Build, ADAXIS) and toolpath logic
  • Familiarity with robotic or large-scale extrusion 3D printing
  • Solid CAD skills (Rhino, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of 3DP process constraints and material behavior
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills across technical disciplines
  • Bonus: experience with CNC processes or toolpath generation

Why join us?

  • Be part of a fast-growing ETH Zurich spin-off redefining robotic manufacturing
  • Collaborate with a passionate, interdisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation
  • Work on large-scale printing challenges that push the boundaries of engineering
  • Take ownership of core processes in a flat, agile team structure
  • Hybrid work setup, flexible hours, and an office in Zurich
  • Shape the early foundation of a company where your work truly matters
