Description

Location: Remote/Hybrid – 50% - 75% travel required

Level: Mid-Level – Senior-Level Individual Contributor (Director to Executive)

About The Role

We are seeking a strategically minded and relationship-oriented Business Development and Acquisitions Executive to join our Corporate Development team, focused on expanding our footprint in the MGA and MGU specialty insurance markets. This is a high-visibility, front-line role combining sourcing, relationship development, and strategic advisory responsibilities.

You will engage directly with potential acquisition targets—both sourced independently and from our Originations team—to educate prospective acquisition par on our differentiated model and encourage them to choose us as their acquisition partner. You’ll build and manage long-term relationships, attend key industry conferences, and serve as a critical link between the market and our internal deal and integration teams.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Building & Management

  • Cultivate relationships with MGA and MGU founders, owners, and executives educating prospective partners on why DOXA is the program of choice.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events (e.g., Target Markets) networking strategically to expand your pipeline and deepen market presence.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with prospects, positioning the organization as the preferred acquirer.

Sourcing & Outreach

  • Collaborate with the Originations team to evaluate inbound opportunities, while also independently identifying and sourcing acquisition targets.
  • Use market knowledge and networking to surface new potential leads that align with our acquisition strategy.
  • Qualify prospective targets based on strategic fit, cultural alignment, operational abilities, and key business metrics.

Process Management & Communication

  • Own CRM tracking and pipeline management for your region or segment, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Provide regular internal updates on the status of acquisition candidates, sharing key insights and risks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the deal, finance, legal, and integration teams throughout the evaluation and onboarding process.

Strategic Insight & Positioning

  • Develop a deep understanding of our unique approach to acquisitions and integration in the insurance space.
  • Help communicate our value proposition to potential sellers including our culture, infrastructure, and long-term strategy.
  • Track market trends and competitor behavior to inform messaging and target prioritization.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in insurance (preferably MGA/MGU), business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate development.
  • Working knowledge of insurance distribution models and the specialty insurance ecosystem.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with senior-level executives and navigate long-cycle relationship-driven processes.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel (50–75%) and representing the company at industry events.
  • Strong organizational skills and CRM discipline; able to manage multiple opportunities in parallel.
  • Self-starter with commercial acumen, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CPCU) a plus.
