Full-time (80-100% workload), hybrid role. Location: Magnolia HQ, Basel.

Are you fluent in numbers, allergic to rounding errors, and known to reconcile accounts for fun? Do you find your peace in a perfectly balanced balance sheet?

As a Senior Accountant at Magnolia, you will be responsible for recording all business transactions through entries in the business books. You will check business books and prepare the annual financial statements at the end of the accounting period, as well as support consolidation and group accounting, playing a key role in the company’s financial reporting cycle.

You will also support group consolidation and accounting efforts, contributing to a smooth and timely closing process at the monthly, quarterly, and annual levels, in line with Swiss GAAP FER and the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR).

You will:

  • Review account assignments and post ongoing business transactions.
  • Create and maintain various ad-hoc and recurring cost reports.
  • Monitor income and expenditure trends.
  • Support group-level cash and liquidity planning.
  • Act as Key User for the NetSuite ERP system, supporting process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, including monthly reconciliation.
  • Oversee the dunning and collection processes for accounts receivable.
  • Monitor and manage hosting costs and traffic for customer accounts.
  • Assist with accounts receivable billing processes.
  • Provide support in the accounts payable area.
  • Manage tangible and intangible assets.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the year-end financial audit.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control systems (ICS) and contribute to their development.

What do you bring in?

  • Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally within an international or group structure.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly appreciated.
  • Solid knowledge of Swiss GAAP FER and Swiss Code of Obligations (OR).
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Fluent in German and English.

  • Take charge: You are in the driver’s seat and set the direction according to what customers, colleagues, and cultures need. No matter the roadblocks you see ahead, you take charge in (re)shaping the destination.
  • Connect: You never drive alone. Building meaningful connections means creating experiences together that form a foundation of trust so next time there’s a bump on the road, you know someone else has your back.

Be you: Choose your own ways and means. You make every perspective count so that everyone feels safe enough to follow their purpose and at the same time pursue one common goal. Your way of growing is to mutually question yourself and others.
