About the Audi F1 Project

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The team has three locations: Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany), the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center in the UK, which will be operational this year. Our Power Unit is developed in Neuburg, while Hinwil focuses on chassis development and race operations.

We are looking for individuals with an athlete's mindset—those who see limits as challenges to overcome. Join us to bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 and make motorsport history. This position is based at Sauber in Hinwil, Switzerland.

Your Mission

  • Contribute to the overall CFD process development in an F1 environment.
  • Impact how CFD technology is used across the aerodynamic department.
  • Enhance CFD physical modeling to improve prediction accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external software providers on development projects.
  • Help set future directions and trends in advanced CFD methods.
  • Work within an agile software development team.

Your Profile

  • MSc or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on CFD.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing CFD methods in OpenFOAM.
  • Previous F1 experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of high-Reynolds flows physics and turbulence modeling.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with software release, update, and deployment techniques.
  • Experience in parallel and high-performance computing (HPC).
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Hard-working, independent, and reliable.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and meticulous.
  • Open to continuous learning and sharing within the team.
  • Ability to promote a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Proficiency in English; German is an advantage.
