Background

Since 2007, conventional and organic cropping systems are compared at two locations in Kenya. In addition, we consider one intensive and one extensive fertilisation rate in each system. The two sites differ in their soil properties and in the amount and distribution of rainfall/irrigation.

At the end of each three-year crop rotation, samples were taken at a depth of 0-20 cm and analysed for key soil biological, chemical and physical parameters. In addition, (Fourier-transformed) infrared spectra were recorded for all samples. So far, the results have not been analysed statistically.

Within this MSc.-thesis, the candidate will statistically analyse the data set and graphically process the results for publication in a scientific journal.
