Über uns

EU Sustainability Engineering team is looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer to scale programs within the wider Amazon electrification transformation. Amazon is committed to building a sustainable future for our customers, local communities, and the planet. Under The Climate Pledge, we committed to be net-zero carbon across our business by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To achieve this, we need driven people dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the roadmap for sustainable energy technologies. Core initiatives include the electrification of last mile and middle mile fleet and the implementation of technologies to maximize energy efficiency of our buildings. This involves expanding one of the largest private charging networks in the world and defining innovative electrical designs to enable smart grids strategy.

Location available for this role are: Munich-London

Key job responsibilities

  1. Align and set stakeholders’ expectations for the installation of the electrical infrastructure to serve the Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging network and/or the smart grid.
  2. Work closely with stakeholders to drive energy efficiency roadmap and installation of IoT technologies (e.g., smart meters).
  3. Develop and manage vendors to ensure installation capacity, quality of commissioning, and smooth on-site interactions with teams like health and safety and operations.
  4. Have full ownership of technologies’ standards for electrical equipment.
  5. Perform design validation to ensure teams respect electrical standards during installation.
  6. Support Field Engineering in preparing for on-site installation execution.
  7. Write business cases and present them to leadership to scope programs.

A day in the life

Your day could include engaging with all levels of the organization and multiple stakeholder groups to drive decisions impacting Amazon’s transportation network. You would work with partners from Operations, Process Improvement, Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to design and deploy new equipment and processes for AMZL, ATS, and CF (all miles).

About the team

EU Sustainability Engineering is responsible for defining and improving electrical standards for the EV charging network and smart grid solutions. We focus on reliability and cost-efficiency, recognizing waste as a major risk to sustainability. Given the scale of Amazon's last mile network, we collaborate closely with other teams: receiving plans and financial justifications from the Global Fleet and EU Sustainability teams, leveraging Field Engineering for installations, and gathering feedback from Maintenance and Operations to improve our products.
