Job Summary:
The Group Chief Operations Officer (GCOO) & Co-Founder at J-Pay Africa Group is a key executive responsible for overseeing the company’s operational strategy, business efficiency, and growth execution across Africa and beyond. As a Co-Founder, the GCOO will work closely with the Group CEO and key stakeholders to drive operational excellence, scalability, and innovation in the digital finance and fintech ecosystem. The role requires a strong leader with expertise in fintech operations, regulatory compliance, and business expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute a comprehensive operations strategy to support J-Pay Africa Group’s growth and expansion.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company across multiple regions, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Lead the implementation of best-in-class operational processes, policies, and technology infrastructure.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks while ensuring business continuity.
2. Business Expansion & Market Growth
- Spearhead market entry strategies, partnerships, and expansion into new African and global markets.
- Develop and manage relationships with regulators, government agencies, and financial institutions.
- Ensure smooth integration of new products, services, and regional operations.
- Drive operational scalability and cost optimization for sustainable growth.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure J-Pay Africa Group adheres to local and international financial regulations, AML, KYC, and fintech compliance standards.
- Work closely with legal, finance, and compliance teams to ensure operational adherence to laws and best practices.
- Develop internal risk management frameworks, cybersecurity policies, and fraud prevention strategies.
4. Product & Service Delivery Optimization
- Oversee the development and execution of customer-centric financial services, ensuring seamless user experience.
- Work closely with the Group Chief Product Officer (GCPO) to improve digital payment solutions and fintech offerings.
- Drive process automation, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
5. Financial & Performance Management
- Collaborate with the Group Chief Finance Officer (GCFO) to manage budgets, financial planning, and operational expenses.
- Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and reporting structures to measure operational success.
- Identify cost-saving measures, revenue optimization opportunities, and financial sustainability strategies.
6. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and mentor a high-performing operations and strategy team across multiple regions.
- Work with the Group CEO, investors, and key partners to drive business objectives.
- Represent J-Pay Africa Group at industry events, fintech forums, and strategic meetings.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field. A Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, or Strategy) is an added advantage.
10+ years of experience in operations leadership, fintech, banking, or digital financial services.
Proven experience in scaling fintech operations, business expansion, and regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of financial technology, digital payments, and cross-border transactions.
Expertise in risk management, AML/KYC regulations, and fintech licensing requirements.
Excellent leadership, strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-growth environment.
