TITLE: BROOKINGS TRANSITION TO EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, holding current South Dakota certification in education and endorsement in special education, or possess the ability to become properly certified and endorsed by the start of assignment.
  • Pass all required employment screenings.
  • Possess the ability and desire to work with young adults with special education needs.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Plan and direct the instructional program for the Brookings Transition to Employment Program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Up and down motion in the office; bending stretching; and lifting up to 40 pounds. Mobility in and around office/school area.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive education/work training program for post-secondary level student s in need of special education, following the defined scope of sequence required as a licensed Project SEARCH site or other such program
  • Collaborate and coordinate with work-based partners.
  • Lead a steering committee for the program.
  • Maintain all appropriate records for the program, including student progress monitoring, attendance, incident reports, assessments and any other pertinent educational records deemed necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, district and university staff as well as steering committee members on program needs, student progress, and other pertinent matters.
  • Conduct student progress meetings, conduct IEP meetings for students in the program, attend steering committee meetings and other regional/state meetings with regards to Project SEARCH.
  • Adhere to profession guidelines for confidentiality, procedural requirements and conduct.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of contract: 193 days

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

This position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services.
