Job Purpose
The Senior Strategy Manager will play a critical role in supporting the executive leadership team by developingand executing long-term strategic initiatives to drive profitability, strengthen market positioning, and foster sustainable growth. The role requires deep market insight, the ability to anticipate trends, identify opportunities and threats, and recommend actionable strategies to capitalize on dynamic industry shifts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and
emerging patterns across geographies and commodities. - Monitor and benchmark the competitive landscape, tracking peer performance and strategic
movements every quarter. - Map the value chains of major industry players relative to CIL to pinpoint risks, strategic gaps, and
new avenues for growth. - Partner with senior leadership to formulate and refine long-term business strategies.
- Develop innovative financial and strategic models to evaluate industry, regional, and business
performance. - Track and evaluate the execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business
objectives and adjusting strategies as necessary. - Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure holistic evaluation and transparent decision-making across
business units. - Build and nurture strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, fostering
strategic partnerships and effective communication. - Prepare insightful, data-driven reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key
performance indicators, strategic risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience within the agricultural commodities trading sector, including exposure to international markets.
- Deep understanding of agricultural commodities trading markets, dynamics, and value chains.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to conduct complex industry research and strategic analysis.
- Proven track record in developing, implementing, and tracking long-term strategic plans.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with BI tools and AI-driven platforms (e.g., ChatGPT).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to craft and deliver executive-level presentations and strategic recommendations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, or French is a plus.
