Job Description:

Cilag AG in Schaffhausen, part of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, manufactures high-quality pharmaceutical products, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and medical devices. Cilag AG is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in Switzerland, supplying all major global markets. The Schaffhausen facility is a strategic launch and growth site for parenteral products, with an impressive pipeline of new and innovative products.

Engineering Manager 80% or 100% Pensum

The position will be located at the Schaffhausen site. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of project engineers and leading technical projects as a project engineer. Responsibilities include design, installation, and qualification of production and processing equipment for product launches and continuous improvement of the supply chain in Parenterals Fill/Finish, Small Molecule API & Solids manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accountable for engineering project management and execution to PDP standards, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
2. Develops and coaches the team, ensuring efficient deployment of engineering personnel to achieve departmental performance.
3. Initiates business cases supporting project funding approval processes.
4. Responsible for safe execution of activities in compliance with EHS guidelines, environmental, regulatory (cGMP), and company standards.
5. Collaborates closely with site stakeholders (Business Units, QA, EHS&S) and global organizations (MAM LM Platform, Engineering & Property Services).
6. Strives to perform to high standards aligned with our Credo and Leadership Standards.

Qualifications:

Education:

University degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Chemical discipline.

Experience and Skills:

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in life sciences and project engineering within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Five years of people management experience, with talent development skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align teams.
• Knowledge of project management approaches, engineering processes, and design thinking; FPX and Lean certifications are a plus.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate needs into technical specs.
• Self-driven, organized, able to prioritize under pressure, and a team player with analytical skills.
• Extensive knowledge of cGMP, GxP regulations, and technical standards is mandatory.

Additional:

• Fluency in German and English (oral and written) with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to occasionally travel regionally (less than 10%).
