Consultant / Senior Consultant - Commodities Trading Audit and Advisory - Geneva

Our Commodities Trading team provides assurance and advisory services for clients involved in trading soft and hard commodities, including metals, oil & gas, energy, and agricultural products. We assist Finance, Risk, Trading, and trading control functions in managing commodity risk, ensuring accounting compliance, and enhancing operational performance.

We are seeking a Senior Consultant with 3 to 5 years of experience to strengthen our Geneva team. The role focuses on providing audit support and advisory services related to physical commodity contracts, financial derivatives, and inventory valuation.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit support as Subject Matter Expert:

  • Execute audit procedures over complex areas such as physical commodity contracts, financial derivatives, and inventories.
  • Perform technical accounting analyses related to commodity trading transactions.
  • Possess knowledge of valuations of vanilla and complex derivatives.
  • Conduct internal controls and process assessments for commodity traders, including risk & controls matrix creation, operational process design, and automation.

Advisory support:

  • Assist in designing and reviewing commodity risk management frameworks (e.g., price risk, counterparty risk).
  • Support the implementation or enhancement of CTRM systems.
  • Analyze processes to identify optimization opportunities in risk management, trade finance structuring, margining, banking, and financial reporting.
  • Conduct market analysis on current and projected commodity market conditions, including supply/demand dynamics and price trends.
  • Contribute to market positioning initiatives, organize events, and author articles showcasing expertise in commodities trading and risk management.

Candidate Profile:

  • University degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in audit, consulting, commodity trading, or financial services.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards related to derivatives, inventory, and revenue (e.g., IFRS 9, IFRS 13, IFRS 15, IAS 2).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with audit or data analysis tools is a plus.
