Your Tasks

BakerHicks is one of the leading consultancies in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK and is expanding its power team in the DACH region. We are seeking an ambitious Substation / Primary layout engineer to support this growth.

Responsibilities include: designing and planning transmission-level onshore substations at voltages from 110kV to 400kV; producing primary layouts; specifying primary equipment; performing equipment rating calculations; busbar short circuit force calculations; earthing studies; impressed voltage calculations; creating material specification lists; fault calculations; P&C wiring diagrams; defining protection requirements; and system modelling.

You must have full proficiency in German and a good level of English.

Your Profile

  • Experience in designing, managing, or producing reports/drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
  • Full professional proficiency in German and good English skills.
  • Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.

Traveling Activity

Projects typically last between 6 and 24 months. Work locations are mainly at the client site, with occasional remote work in coordination with project management. You will have the chance to work with various clients and technologies, exploring new cities while returning home on weekends.
