Working at Parker means belonging to a passionate, dynamic, and innovative team, empowered to make a difference.
Your responsibilities
As “Component Engineer”, you manage component lifecycle (new component introduction, component change, and obsolescence) for all mechanical and electromechanical (M/EM) components pertaining to the Bill of Materials (BOM) of active products and components database. This includes new part approval, obsolescence, and change management. You ensure correct classification of mechanical components and materials for quick assessment regarding different directives and regulations, supporting our supply chain, quality, and design teams with a state-of-the-art approach to component lifecycle. - Provide obsolescence report status to customers, project managers, sales, and program management.
- Conduct Form/Fit/Function analysis and search for alternatives for obsolete components.
- Manage and coordinate obsolescence issues until resolution, launching and leading projects if needed, and proactively issuing preventive actions.
- Analyze the impact of Product Change Notifications (PCN), Product Discontinuation Notifications (PDN), and errata contents with support from Design Engineers.
New component introduction and component change:
- Maintain and enforce a minimized standard component list.
- Maintain and enforce a part approval process considering environmental conditions, market availability, lifecycle data, reliability, failure data, cost reduction, and compliance classification.
- Identify components with limits or restrictions for correct use by engineering or production.
- Monitor technological developments and recommend new technologies.
- Support manufacturer approvals and participate in technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Ensure components align with product lifecycle requirements and configuration management within SAP.
- Gather KPIs for component lifecycle management.
