Job Description:

As our new Senior R&D Structural Engineer, you will join our Global Multi-Physic Simulation (GLOMUS) network team in the Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key experts specializing in electrical, structural, acoustic, thermo-mechanical, and fluid-dynamics analyses, simulation, and testing.

Your responsibilities

  1. Perform finite element simulations of structures under static and dynamic loads (fatigue, shock, short-circuit, seismic, lifting, etc.)
  2. Develop automation tools for structural, thermomechanical, and acoustic assessments of products
  3. Conduct feasibility studies, develop technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their performance
  4. Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies and products
  5. Lead product and technology development for Dry, Traction, and Oil Distribution Transformers, ensuring timely delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards
  6. Support technology transfer from R&D to engineering by creating design rules, training materials, and collaborating with design teams
  7. Provide technical support to other departments such as engineering, product management, marketing, and sales

Your background

  1. PhD or MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  2. Several years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering
  3. Deep knowledge of structures subjected to seismic, fatigue, shock, and thermal loads
  4. Experience with finite element analysis and ANSYS Workbench suite
  5. Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Visual Basic, and Python
  6. Strong foundation in vibrational fatigue and structural dynamics
  7. Project management skills with a results-oriented and innovative mindset
  8. Excellent communication skills in English, team spirit, and willingness to travel
