We are looking for a passionate DevOps Engineer to join the Markets Quant Team at Julius Baer in Zurich. The team provides the quantitative backbone services for our derivative trading businesses across Equities and FX. You will be working in a fast-paced environment using a cutting-edge and constantly evolving technology stack.

Our programming language of choice is Scala and we embrace a purely-functional style of programming (Typelevel Scala). Our applications and services are deployed on-prem and, increasingly, in the cloud. You will work closely with our Quants and Quant Developers to help them manage the entire application life-cycle: building, testing, deployment and operations.

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Work closely with Quants and Quant developers to help them build, test, deploy and operate a wide range of applications and (micro)services

• Depending on experience, contribute code, custom tooling, configuration, documentation, etc

• Automate and improve our CI/CD processes

• Manage the underlying IT infrastructure, both on-prem and in the cloud

• Liaise with Central IT and Markets IT stakeholders

• Ensure adherence to internal standards, rules and regulations

• Write design and troubleshooting documentation

• Conduct system tests for security, performance and availability

• Participate in an Agile work environment

YOUR PROFILE

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent work experience

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software engineering experience

• Good knowledge of the JVM, Maven and ideally some prior exposure to Scala and sbt

• Basic Linux and SysAdmin experience (you should know your way around a Unix terminal)

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Passion for modern open source technologies and the desire to learn new technologies

• Nice to have: Scala/sbt, Microsoft Azure, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Nomad, Consul, Grafana stack
