Novocure is a global publicly-traded commercial-stage oncology company developing a profoundly different cancer treatment therapy called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for patients with solid tumors. TTFields therapy is a non-invasive, novel, antimitotic treatment modality which utilizes proprietary technology attempting to slow or reverse tumor progression by inducing tumor cell death. Novocure's commercialized product, Optune, is approved for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma (GBM) in the USA, Europe and Israel. Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials and is further expanding its efforts into several other solid tumor indications - non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer and other types of solid cancers.

Director, Direct Procurement

The Director, Direct Procurement is a strategic leadership role responsible for building a robust and resilient direct sourcing strategy that enables business continuity, cost efficiency, and innovation. This role supports global manufacturing, product development, and new product introduction (NPI) activities by leading the procurement of key direct materials and components—particularly in electronics and medical devices.

This individual will lead cross-functional collaboration, supplier relationship management, and the execution of category strategies to support Novocure’s growth, profitability, and commitment to patient-forward innovation.

Your responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy & Category Leadership

• Develop and lead procurement strategies for direct materials, with a focus on electronics and medical devices.
• Identify and implement cost reduction and risk mitigation initiatives through data analysis and stakeholder collaboration.
• Lead category management efforts across key spend areas and maintain a project portfolio that supports business goals.
• Owner of the category budget.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of category managers.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align procurement initiatives with business objectives.
• Ensure early procurement involvement in product development and innovation projects.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Legal, and Engineering teams to ensure integrated sourcing solutions.
  
  

Supplier Relationship & Risk Management

• Manage strategic supplier partnerships to improve cost, delivery, lead times, and innovation.
• Develop and implement supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead supplier selection, contract negotiations, and compliance with sustainability standards.
  
  

Operational Excellence

• Build and continuously improve direct procurement processes based on industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with Novocure’s procurement policies, P2P systems, and sourcing procedures.
• Utilize digital procurement tools such as SAP Ariba for sourcing, contract management, and supplier collaboration.
• Track and report procurement KPIs to leadership.
  
  

New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Lead procurement efforts in the Stage Gate & Design Control process for external manufacturing and critical suppliers.
• Ensure smooth transitions from development to production, working closely with NPI and cross-functional teams.
  
  

Market Intelligence & Innovation

• Conduct market analysis and supplier research to support strategic sourcing and category management.
• Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, new technologies, and cost drivers in the electronics and medical device space.
  
  

Your profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
• 8–12 years of direct procurement experience, with a strong background in electronics and medical devices.
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., ISO13485, FDA) preferred.
• Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and supplier relationships.
• Proficient in sourcing and procurement tools, with strong experience using SAP Ariba, or similar.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operationally and manage multiple priorities.
• Preferable Lean Green / Black belt
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal); additional EU languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
