Job Description

Your responsibilities

As a Project Engineer for the High-Luminosity LHC, you will join the Project Office (DO) within the Accelerators and Technology (ATS) Sector.

Your work will focus on the integration and preparation for the eventual de-installations for Work Package 15 for the HL-LHC installations during Long Shutdown 3 (scheduled to begin July 2026).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Following up with the integration modifications required for new underground caverns and LHC alcoves, validating the equipment integration to be used, and producing the required documentation.
  • Producing and updating 3D models using CATIA V5.
  • Preparing and uploading data derived from the integration to the HL-LHC layout database.
  • Participating in the installation schedule preparation and analyzing the impact of ECR on the baseline schedule and budget.
  • Following up on new small and medium projects that HL-WP15 will take over to ensure smooth preparation of de-installation and installation processes.
  • Supporting WP15 in the preparation of de-installation and installation procedures and contributing to Installation Readiness Reviews for major installation phases.
  • Participating in WP15 team activities such as organizing meetings, reporting, and updating SharePoint pages.

Your profile

Skills:

  • Experience with project control and scheduling.
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder negotiations.
  • Experience working in the field.
  • Familiarity with CATIA V5.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modelling.
  • Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never held a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without a university degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 26.06.2025 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months, with possible extension up to 36 months.

Working hours: 40 hours per week.

Target start date: 01-September-2025.

This position involves:

  • Participation in regular stand-by duty, including nights, Sundays, and official holidays.
  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Work during nights, Sundays, and holidays as required.
