We are seeking a Data Governance Manager (f/m/d) to enhance our Data & AI Center of Excellence, serving as our Chief Data & AI Office. In this key role, you will shape and expand our data governance capabilities organization-wide. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, governance, and execution—bringing a practical approach to developing our data domains and products, and integrating governance into our data culture.

You will lead our transition to a truly data-driven organization where data is owned, trusted, accessible, and central to decision-making. Join a forward-thinking team covering Data & AI Governance from strategy to operations. This role offers a unique chance to influence data management and utilization across the organization, working with passionate experts and leading innovation. Most importantly, you will enable our data & AI-driven journey by embedding data as a core asset throughout the business.

Your responsibilities

  • Implement and evolve our Data & AI Governance Framework.
  • Collaborate with data domain owners and product teams to embed governance into workflows.
  • Establish and maintain company-wide standards for data management, quality, interoperability, and stewardship.
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Support the rollout of data fabric governance models, enabling federated data ownership with central governance.
  • Guide and support data stewards in defining data quality rules and implementing them.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote a data-first mindset.
  • Champion practices that support data democratization and self-service analytics.
  • Assess, report, and drive change regarding data governance risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance standards.

Your profile

  • Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or metadata management in complex environments.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead initiatives from start to finish.
  • Knowledge of data mesh or data fabric governance principles is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in agile environments and cross-functional teams is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills; German language skills are a plus.
  • Experience in banking or financial services is beneficial.

Please note that applications via recruitment agencies are not accepted for this position.
